WARRIORS WOMEN NAME SIDE FOR SARACENS SHOWDOWN

Warriors Women have made three changes for tomorrow’s Tyrrells Premier 15s clash with Saracens Women at Sixways (kick-off 12pm).

Lauren Leatherland replaces Akina Gondwe at loosehead prop, while Jess Wiesheu starts in the second-row alongside Elizabeth Shermer. Vicky Foxwell gets the nod at centre, with Meg Varley switching to the wing in the absence of Lydia Thompson, who is ruled out through injury.

Jo Yapp’s side have been in good form of late, recording three home wins on the spin as the campaign hits the midway point. Wins against Bristol Bears, Firwood Waterloo and Richmond have galvanised Warriors as the break for the Women’s Six Nations looms large.

Securing a crucial bonus point victory over Richmond in front of the live television cameras last week, Warriors Lead Coach Sian Moore: “Three wins from three at Sixways is really big for us and it’s been a monumental effort by the team.

“We had a really big crowd against Bristol, and we then staged the Legends Day game in our next home match, before starting 2020 by taking on Richmond in the second part of the double-header.

“We’re really thankful for the support that the club has given us, and it’s been really good to find our form at a key stage of the season.

“Those three victories might have been a shock to people outside of the club, but from what we’re building here and from what we’re trying to develop, it wasn’t a shock to us. We’re pleased that the performances are getting better and the results are coming in as well.”

Reigning Tyrrells Premier 15s champions Saracens are unbeaten in the league this season, having won all ten of their games as they strive to retain their title.

Moore added: “We know that Saracens are going to be a tough opponent for us, but we’ve got a lot of things to be positive about on the back of our recent run of games and I know the girls are really looking forward to getting back out there.”
