Howe signs up for two more years

Free-scoring wing Tom Howe has committed his future to Warriors until the end of the 2021/22 season.

Howe has scored 21 tries in 36 appearances since he joined Warriors from Wasps Academy in the summer of 2017 and has signed a two-year extension to his existing contract which expires at the end of this season.

Howe scored a hat-trick of tries against Exeter Chiefs in the Premiership Rugby Cup in October but, having waited to the last match of 2019 for his first Gallagher Premiership appearance of the season, he has started in Warriors’ last three matches in the competition.

“I have a good relationship with Alan Solomons and the coaches and I have been getting some good game time recently,” Howe said.

“At the start of the season it was a little frustrating as I wasn’t getting that game time but I knew that if I was patient that the opportunities would come.

“With a young family a two year contract means that we can settle down here.

“You could make a really good Premiership side out of guys who are 25 or younger. That’s a solid team that we have for the next three or four years.

“It’s good to see that so many of the young guys have re-signed. The chemistry of the squad is only going to get stronger over the next two or three years.”

Howe, 24, played his formative rugby at Shiplake College and Beaconsfield RFC. He helped England Under-20s win the Junior World Championship in 2016 and had loan spells with Jersey Reds and Coventry two seasons ago and was leading try-scorer at both clubs.

Howe’s development since he joined Warriors has impressed Director of Rugby Solomons who is delighted to have retained another of his prized assets.

“I am really pleased that Tom is extending his stay with us,” Solomons said.

“He has come on leaps and bounds this season. He has pace to burn and is a terrific finisher.

“Tom has also worked hard on improving his all-round game and has now established himself at Premiership level.

“He is a great bloke, a tremendous team man and a real asset to the club. I thoroughly enjoy working with him and look forward to us continuing our association.”
