WARRIORS WOMEN WING ACE THOMPSON STARTS FOR ENGLAND

Warriors Women wing Lydia Thompson is back in England’s starting line-up for this Saturday’s Women’s Six Nations clash with Wales at the Twickenham Stoop (kick-off 12.05pm).

The prolific flyer, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury since Warriors’ victory over Richmond at the turn of the year, has battled her way to fitness and will win her 46th cap for the Red Roses.

Thompson is one of six Warriors players taking to the field on Saturday, five of those pulling on the Wales jersey.

“I feel more like me now, doing what I love doing,” said Thompson, 28.

“I’ve been really well supported at Worcester and England these last few weeks and I’m so excited to get back out onto the pitch.”

England Women Head Coach Simon Middleton said: “We have tremendous strength in depth, which means there are always players who are unfortunate to miss out.

“England against Wales in any sport is an iconic fixture and we are very much looking forward to the game.”

With more than 10,000 tickets sold for the game, Middleton added: “There’s been a fantastic effort across the board in terms of ticket sales and we know the crowd at the Stoop will create a wonderful atmosphere.”
