Weir named in Scotland matchday squad

Warriors fly-half Duncan Weir is in line to win his 28th Scotland cap against Grand Slam-seeking France in Sunday’s Six Nations match at Murrayfield.

Weir has been named among Scotland’s replacements, the first time he has been named in a matchday squad since he won his last cap against France at Murrayfield three years ago.

If Weir comes off the bench he will win his first cap as a Warrior having arrived at Sixways in the summer of 2018.

In his two seasons at Sixways Weir has been a model of consistency and has rattled up 394 points in 39 appearances.

Weir’s performances for Scotland have secured him places in Scotland training squads over the past two seasons. Earlier this week he was named in their squad for their remaining Six Nations matches – France and their tournament finale against Wales at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on March 14.

Weir is in line to become the second Warriors player to be capped by Scotland this year following number eight Cornell du Preez who came off the bench in the Six Nations opener against Ireland in Dublin last month.
