Worcestershire Community Foundation support Tackling Dementia Sports Cafe

Warriors Community Foundation have partnered with Worcestershire Community Foundation for their award-winning Tackling Dementia Sports Cafe.

The Tackling Dementia Cafe runs weekly at Sixways, providing social gatherings and stimulating activities for people living with dementia.

“Knowing the invaluable work that the Warriors Community Foundation does to support vulnerable people in our communities, we are very happy to be able to provide funding for this programme,” said Lucy Wells, Development Director of the Worcestershire Community Foundation.

“WCF has already funded many older people’s projects before and during the pandemic, and we recognise the vital nature of this work, particularly at a time when older people in society are suffering so badly from isolation and a lack of services.

“We look forward to working closely with the Warriors Community Foundation to make the Dementia Cafe a success this year.”

In 2018 the Tackling Dementia Cafe won the Dementia Friendly Organisation of the Year in the  Small and Medium Category at the National Dementia Friendly Awards in London and the support of WCF will enable that work to continue.

“We are absolutely delighted to be working with the Worcestershire Community Foundation in 2021 to specifically support our work for people living with dementia,” said Carol Hart, Chief Executive Officer of the Warriors Community Foundation.

“Our Dementia Café has been running out of Sixways Stadium for over three years and is designed to offer fun activities for people living with dementia and respite activities for their carers.

“We are fully expecting a significant increase in demand for this type of service once it is safe for people to return to activities”.
