Warriors team-mates become opponents for the day

Warriors’ team-mates will become opponents for the day in two Greene King IPA Championship matches on Saturday.

Loosehead prop Kai Owen has been named as a replacement for Coventry’s trip to the Channel Islands to face Jersey Reds at the Stade Santander International and he will find two familiar faces in the home side.

Scott van Breda will start at full-back for Jersey with Matti Williams at number eight as the Reds go in search of a third straight win.

Former England Under-20s international Owen made his Coventry debut against Saracens in a pre-season friendly in March and subsequently joined them on loan for the remainder of the Championship campaign.

But this is the first time that Owen has been included in the squad and is in line to make his competitive debut.

Van Breda and Williams are on loan at Jersey along with lock James Scott. A fourth Warriors player, tighthead prop Joe Morris, will join them on Sunday with his loan spell having been delayed by the ankle injury sustained by Nick Schonert at Exeter last week.

Warriors centre Will Butler will face his team-mate Morgan Monks when Cornish Pirates host Hartpury at the Mennaye Field on Saturday.

Butler will start for Pirates with Monks, who signed a contract extension this week, named among Hartpury’s replacements.
