Club Captain O’Donnell and prop Long re-sign

Warriors Women continue to assemble their squad ahead of the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s season, with Lyndsay O’Donnell and Flo Long the latest to extend their Sixways stay.

Scotland capped line-out specialist O’Donnell, 27, will remain as Warriors’ Club Captain while former England Under-20 prop Long adds steel to the pack.

“We are really pleased to see Lyndsay remain with us for another season and Flo is a talented player, who has really established herself at the club,” said Jo Yapp, Warriors Women Director of Rugby.

“Lyndsay is a key member of the squad and a leader who helps to drive the standards and values that we are building as a club.

“Flo put in some strong performances last season, and we are really pleased to see her re-sign with us. We are looking forward to seeing how she can progress and develop further this season.”

O’Donnell, a Chartered Physiotherapist at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, leads by example both on and off the field, and adds significant experience to an exciting squad.

“I’m really looking forward to another year with the club,” added Sterling-born O’Donnell.

“I can’t wait to help the club build on the foundations that we have created over the last few years.”

20-year-old Long, who was named Warriors’ Most Improved Player last season, came through Bristol Bears’ Centre of Excellence and made her first team debut as a back-row aged 17.

“I’ve really enjoyed being part of the team so far and I’m looking forward to continuing my development with the club,” said Long.

“I’m excited at the prospect of what we can achieve this coming season.”

Part of the England Talent Development Group between 2015-2018, Long was brought into Simon Middleton’s Red Roses camp in the build-up to the 2021 Six Nations.

With the number of re-signings gathering pace, Warriors have a number of new signings to announce in due course to build up the excitement ahead of the new season.
