Talented forwards re-sign

Warriors Women have bolstered their pack by securing the services of back-row Taz Bricknell and second-row Amelia Buckland Hurry.

Backs and Attack Coach Sian Moore, believes the talented pair are developing into real talents at Sixways, adding: “Taz is a talented rugby player, who has played in an array of positions throughout her career, and she has a good level of physicality as well as bringing sound technical detail to her game.

“She’s a modern back-row, who is comfortable both in and around the breakdown as well as in the wider channels.

“Amelia has such passion and drive, and she’s developed nicely since arriving at Sixways. She has built herself firmly as a leader and we’re really happy that she’ll be remaining a Warrior.”

Bricknell, 23, has been the cornerstone of Warriors’ pack and brings significant steel to the forward line both in attack and defence which was underlined by her display at Gloucester-Hartpury towards the end of last season.

The Kent-born ball-carrier has represented England at under-20 level and was part of the England Talent Development Group during the 2016/17 season.

“I can’t wait to get my third season at Warriors underway,” said Bricknell.

“The culture, coaching staff and my teammates really make the club feel like home and I’m ready for the challenges that this season is going to bring.”

Former Bristol Bear Buckland Hurry made the switch to Sixways last summer and has been an impressive presence for Jo Yapp’s side as they ended the campaign in seventh place.

Having spent seven seasons with Bristol, Buckland Hurry brought considerable experience to the table and that proved valuable as Warriors picked up some vital wins and bonus points in the latter stages of the campaign.

The 27-year-old said: “I’m thrilled to have re-signed as part of the Warriors family and I’m really looking forward to seeing what this team is capable of after a fantastic pre-season.”

The duo’s decision to re-sign takes Warriors’ committed list to 14, with Japan fly-half Minori Yamamoto adding to that list. More signings will be announced in due course as well as a flurry of re-signings as the feel-good factor continues ahead of the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s season.
