Warriors Women will kick-off their 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s campaign with a trip to Sale Sharks on Saturday September 4.
Warriors’ first home game of the season is against reigning champions Harlequins on Saturday September 11, the two sides having served up an enthralling spectacle in the same fixture last year.
A brand-new cup competition will also be introduced for the 2021/22 season, giving clubs the opportunity to develop their younger talents whilst giving players much needed game time.
New cup competition
Clubs will be ranked by their 2021/22 league finishing position and then drawn in two pools of five, with clubs playing each other once in two home games, two away games and one BYE week over five rounds.
The top two teams in each pool will progress to the semi-finals played at the highest ranked clubs’ venues (16 April 2022) as well as a third-placed play-off and showpiece final (both 22 April 2022).
The Allianz Cup final will be played at the home venue of the winning semi-finalist club with the highest points’ difference.
The bottom four ranked teams will enter fifth, seventh and ninth placed play-off finals with the home team once again determined by stage 1 league tables.
Excited
Warriors Women Director of Rugby Jo Yapp said: “We’re all really excited ahead of the new season and the excitement always goes up a notch when the fixtures are announced.
“We are looking forward to the challenge of facing Sale Sharks in the season opener and we then come up against those teams that made last season’s play-off semi-finals in the games that follow.
“With a number of new signings joining the club coupled with the core of the squad remaining here, there is a real sense of excitement within this group.”
Clubs are now permitted to sign 15 ‘dual-registered’ players from lower league clubs, who must all be England qualified and the Cup will also provide a platform for their development.
Streaming details for the league will be confirmed in due course.
