Sione Vailanu to start against England

Sione Vailanu will start at number eight for Tonga in Saturday’s Autumn Nations Series match against England at Twickenham.

It will be Vailanu’s eighth cap for Tonga but his first since he helped them defeat Canada 33-23 in a Pacific Nations Cup match in Lautoka in August 2019.

It will also be Vailanu’s first cap since he joined Warriors from Wasps during the summer making him the seventh Tongan to be capped while at Sixways following Sateki Tuipulotu, Aisea Havili, Tevita Taumoepeau, Aleki Lutui, Ofa Fainga’anuku and Cooper Vuna.

Vailanu, 26, has made five appearances for Warriors this season, the latest as a starter in last Saturday’s victory over Sale Sharks, and he scored his first try for the club against Gloucester last month.
