Warriors’ ACE League team make winning start in Plate play-offs

Stourport High School and Sixth Form College, Warriors’ RFU ACE League team, made a winning start to their Plate play-off campaign with a 12-7 over Oakland College, their counterparts from Saracens.

Wet weather in Hertfordshire made handling rugby difficult but Stourport established a 12-0 lead in the first half and defended doggedly after the break to complete a double over Oaklands, following victory in their opening league match in September.

Hooker Ethan Allen (Telford Hornets) and right wing George Evans (Claverdon) scored Stourport’s tries with fly-half Jack Condliffe of Luctonians adding a conversion.

Stourport host Myerscough College from Lancashire, Sale Sharks’ ACE team, on Wednesday November 17 when a win would take them through to the Plate final.
