Mixed fortunes for Warriors loan players

There were mixed fortunes for the seven Warriors players in loan action this weekend.

James Scott, Joe Richardson and Caleb Montgomery all celebrated victories in the Championship but there was disappointment for Morgan Monks, Seb Atkinson, Finn Theobald-Thomas and Cheick Kone.

Lock Scott started for Hartpury and played the first 63 minutes in the bonus point 38-20 win against Richmond at the Alpas Arena on Saturday.

Hooker Richardson came off the bench 12 minutes into the second half of Coventry’s tense 15-14 win over Bedford Blues at the Butts Park Arena.

Back-row forward Montgomery helped Cornish Pirates to a convincing 29-7 win against Doncaster Knights at the Mennaye Field on Sunday.

Ampthill’s 54-17 defeat at leaders Ealing Trailfinders prevented a Championship clean sweep for Warriors players. Back-row forward Monks came on as replacement for Ampthill seven minutes into the second half and scored a try 11 minutes later.

But by the time Monks appeared Ealing had scored six tries and were well on the way to victory.

Fly-half Atkinson and hooker Theobald-Thomas tasted defeated for the first time this season as Stourbridge lost their unbeaten record in National Two North with a 15-10 defeat at Fylde.

Atkinson started and Theobald-Thomas came off the bench for Stourbridge.

Lock Kone returned from an injury as a replacement for Luctonians whose three-match winning run was ended by an 18-7 defeat at Luctonians.
