Warriors Under-18s set for Sixways Super Sunday

Warriors Under-18s have made five changes to their starting XV for their Premiership Rugby Under-18 Academy League Northern Conference match against Leicester Tigers at Sixways on Sunday (kick-off 1.00pm).

Archie Jones, who came off the bench against Newcastle Falcons two weeks ago, returns to the side and will renew his centre pairing with Will Pugh.

Alex Wills returns to the matchday squad on the left wing in the other change to the back division.

There are two changes in the front row with Ethan Allen back to hooker and Arron Hackett named at tighthead prop.

The other change is on the blindside flank where Will Owen, who had to sit out the win over Northampton Saints three weeks ago following a positive COVID test, returns.

Woody Facey and Jacob Clarke both return to the squad as replacements for Warriors’ final home Conference match.

Leicester will arrive at Sixways with an identical record to Warriors – two wins, two defeats and two try bonus points from their first four games – but are a place higher in the table because of their superior points difference.Sunday’s match will be the first of two at Sixways with Warriors Under-17s taking on their Leicester Tigers counterparts in the second game which kicks off at 2.30pm”.

“The Under-18s are looking to put in a strong performance after their disappointment in Newcastle last time out,” said Mike Hall, Manager of the Three Pears Warriors Academy.

“They have worked hard since then and are looking forward to returning to playing at Sixways.

“There is good strength in depth in the squad and the players are pushing each other every week on the training pitch and in the gym to make improvements.

“Tigers have a strong history in the Under-18 Academy League competition so, as always, will be very tough opponents.

“After the Under-18s’ game there will be an Under-17s fixture to enable some of those players who have been training hard week in and week out, to get some much needed game-time.

“The squad have been working hard under the guidance of Matt Jones and Rob Lewis, so it will be good to see them have a hit out this weekend.

“With both Warriors and Warriors Women being away this weekend, we would encourage fans who need their Sixways fix to come along and watch the Warriors and Tigers of the future on show.”

Admission and car parking  are free for both of Sunday’s matches at Sixways.
