Murphy’s Championship debut cut short

Warriors’ loosehead prop Ben Murphy made his Championship debut for Hartpury in their 40-31 defeat by Jersey Reds at the Alpas Arena on Saturday.

The Three Pears Warriors Academy prospect had been playing for Luctonians in National Two North on a dual registration but stepped up two levels by joining Hartpury on a similar arrangement.

Murphy came off the bench midway through the second-half but his involvement was cut short when the match was halted then called off eight minutes early when a spectator required emergency evacuation to hospital.

Warriors flanker Jack Forsythe helped Luctonians to secure back-to-back wins over Harrogate in National Two North.

Having trounced the Yorkshire side 75-0 at Mortimer Park it was a closer contest at Rudding Lane with Luctonians winning 21-0.

Forsythe scored Luctonians’ third try when he snaffled a loose ball after Harrogate lost possession attempting to attack from deep.
