Sixways becomes donation centre to help Ukrainian refugees

Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium has become a donation point for essential items to help refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Collection bins, supplied by Worcester City Council, will be placed in Main Reception at Sixways from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday for donations which will then be collected before being transported to Ukraine and Poland.

The donations will support the work of Caritas Internationalis and will be transported through the humanitarian corridor direct to Ukraine and Poland.

To aid the collection process and to avoid any wastage only items on the list of essentials should be donated. Please note that we cannot accept items of clothing unless they are specifically listed below.

The essential items are:

  •  Blankets
  •  Sleeping bags and mats
  •  Thermos flasks
  •  Pillows
  •  Raincoats
  •  New underwear for men, women and children
  •  Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  •  Shower gels, shampoos
  •  Hairbrushes
  •  Instant food
  •  Instant milk for babies
  •  Canned food
  •  Energy bars
  •  Wipes
  •  Nappies

The Mayor of Worcester, Cllr Stephen Hodgson, said: “As a longstanding Warriors fan I am delighted that Worcester City Council has been able to support the Club’s appeal on behalf of the people of Ukraine.”

Donors for a bulk supply of cardboard boxes and packing tape which will be used to pack the essential items are also required.
