Sione Vailanu to join Glasgow for 2022/23 season

Tonga international number eight Sione Vailanu will leave Warriors at the end of the current season to join United Rugby Championship side Glasgow Warriors.

Vailanu arrived at Sixways from Wasps last summer and he has made 17 appearances so far for Warriors – 12 as a starter – and scored three tries.

Vailanu became the seventh Tongan to be capped while a Warriors player when he started against England at Twickenham in November. He won his ninth cap as a replacement against Romania in Bucharest two weeks later.

Vailanu first played in the Gallagher Premiership for Saracens having been spotted playing for Samurai in the 2017 Hong Kong Tens.

Vailanu said: “I’d like to thank all the fans for their support. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the club and it’s been fantastic to play in front of the supporters at Sixways.

“I will give everything to make sure we have a strong finish to the season and hope to share more celebrations with fans after matches.”
