Warriors Women sign talented quartet

Warriors Women pride themselves on developing the next generation, and the club’s Centre of Excellence is bearing fruit yet again with three out of four players signing senior terms with the Allianz Premier 15s outfit from the internal pathway.

Catherine Wells, Leah Brough, Evelyn Clarke and Tori Sellors have all committed their future to Warriors going into the latter stages of the campaign.

Wells, who plays prop, progressed through Warriors’ Centre of Excellence programme whilst also representing Barkers’ Butts and Warwickshire County. Bringing an abrasive ball-carrying game, Wells will have the likes of England legend Laura Keates to look up to for advice as she looks to break into the first team.

England U18 centre Brough, injects pace as well as a clinical edge to the backline, while lightning-quick Clarke can play anywhere across the back three. Brough and Clarke both came through the ranks of Worcester RFC, underlining the strong links between the two Worcester clubs.

Sellors will be joining the University of Worcester next season, with the former flanker, now scrum-half rounding off the signings. Sellors came off the bench for England U18s during their 38-7 victory over Scotland in Darlington last weekend.

Warriors Women Director of Rugby Jo Yapp said: “Benny Williams’ role as Head of Women’s Development has been crucial for bringing our younger players through to the senior team.

“We have a number of talented players on our Centre of Excellence programme and having introduced Catherine, Leah, Evelyn and Tori to our skills sessions, we made the decision to sign them for the rest of the season.

“It fitted in well with our plans and we’re excited to see their progress in the coming months.”
