Lydia Thompson’s remarkable try-scoring record for England gained further momentum as she made it 41 tries in 51 appearances when she crossed for a hat-trick in yesterday’s 74-0 TikTok Six Nations victory over Italy in Parma.

Thompson opener her account with the Red Roses’ third score of the contest on 15 minutes, before doubling her tally just after the break to extend her side’s lead to 36 points. The Stourbridge-born flyer completed her hat-trick in the final play of the game to round off a comprehensive win for Simon Middleton’s troops, a result which cements their position at the top of the table.
Back-row Alex Matthews also started the match as England extended their winning streak to 20 Test victories in a row.

Elsewhere in the competition, Sioned Harries came off the bench for Wales to deliver a Player of the Match display with her introduction sparking a sensational comeback triumph.
Harries, who has been in the international wilderness for over two years, scored five minutes into the second period and was one of seven Warriors players involved in Saturday’s clash.

Carys Phillips, a try scorer after 21 minutes, and Alex Callender both started for Wales, while Harries and scrum-half Ffion Lewis came off the bench to score a try each in the second half.
Lana Skeldon marked her 50th Scotland cap with a try after just three minutes, with fellow Warriors Caity Mattinson and Lyndsay O’Donnell among the replacements.
