Theobald-Thomas helps Stourbridge to thrilling win

Young Warrior Finn Theobald-Thomas helped Stourbridge to revive their National Two North promotion play-off chances with a 37-33 win against Fylde at Stourton Park.

Theobald-Thomas spent the first half of the season on a dual registration with Stourbridge which gave the Three Pears Warriors Academy prospect valuable exposure to senior rugby.

Having broken into the England Under-20s squad for this season’s Six Nations, Theobald-Thomas’ opportunities to play for Stourbridge more recently have been limited.

Theobald-Thomas has played most of his rugby at hooker but, having played for Warriors at openside flanker in the recent Premiership Rugby Cup win at Bath, he started in that position for Stourbridge against Fylde.

Despite having three players sin-binned during an eventful match – including both centres at one stage – Stourbridge dug deep to repel Fylde’s fightback with former Warriors scrum-half Michael Heaney among their try-scorers.

Theobald-Thomas was the only Warriors player in loan action this weekend.
