Three graduates of Warriors Women’s Centre of Excellence represented England Under-18s in the Rugby Europe 18s Sevens Championship.

Eva Wood, a product of Old Halesonians, Evelyn Clarke of Worcester RFC and Izzy McGuire-Evans of Telford Hornets helped England to secure fourth place in the tournament.

England played six matches, beating Portugal 27-5, hosts Czech Republic 19-5 and Ukraine 48-0 and losing 29-5 to Spain.

Having narrowly missed out on the top three play-offs but they went on to beat Scotland 33-12 and Czech Republic 28-10 to secure fourth place.

France won the overall competition with Spain runners-up and Ireland in third place.

“We are incredibly proud of Eva, Evelyn and Izzy and it’s a huge achievement to represent your country,” said Benny Williams, Warriors’ Head of Women’s Pathway.

“We are also really excited to see their development continue.

“On the Saturday, in the Centre of Excellence, we sat down and watched the girls play on the big screen and were cheering them on.

“A few girls in the room have only just recently stopped playing with them and you could see how proud they were of them. A few players in that room will be striving to be there next year as well.”
