Leinster test for young Warriors

Warriors Under-18s and Women’s Under-18s will warm up for the new season by Leinster in a double-header at Sixways this evening (Tuesday August 2).

The women’s team will kick-off at 6pm followed by the men’s team at 7.45pm and admission to Sixways is free for all.

“It will be good to see the boys have a runout against a very strong Leinster side. We’re using a wider squad for this game, and then we’ll have an Under-17/Under-18s festival alongside other Premiership Academy sides next week,”said Jonny Goodridge, Warriors Academy Backs and Transition Coach.

“The boys came back in at the same time as the first-team so this is their third week back training and they should be in a good place going into this game.

“We’re in a much stronger place now than we were at this time last season, coming out of the covid restrictions and disruptions.

“We’ve got a strong group and know that the boys will keep getting better as the season goes on.”

For Warriors Women Under-18s the Leinster match will be good preparation for the National Centre of Excellence Festival at Malvern College on August 12.

“We are really excited to implement what we have been learning as a group into game scenarios,” said Benny Williams, Warriors Head of Women’s Pathway.

“We are in a pre-season block leading into a National Centre of Excellence Festival at Malvern. We have had the girls in for the last four weeks which has been great to get to know the players better on a more personal level as we normally don’t have this much contact time with them.

“We have some incredible talent coming through the Centre of Excellence with nine being invited into an England Under-18 camp in late August which is incredibly exciting.”
